Can blogging become a full time business? Recently I’ve read about some very successful bloggers and it seems as though every man (and woman ) is doing it. Is it really so simple that anyone can do it? Then I read a post by Steve Pavlina, How to make money from your blog, and my whistle was well and truly wetted. To the question ‘Can anyone do it?’, Steve answers ‘No, they can’t.’. Well, that was like a gauntlet thrown to me and so I’ve decided to undertake a blogging for profit experiment over the next twelve months.

Here are my goals that will determine if the experiment is a success:

1. One month goal
   Register new domain name. Sign up for hosting service. Establish new blog using WordPress. Average at least three quality articles per week.

2. Three month goal
   Research making a profit by blogging. Ensure a variety of income streams from blog and that all expenses are now covered by blog income. Continue average of at least three quality articles per week.

3. Six month goal
   Increase traffic to blog, measured by Alexa rating and Google page rank. Income from blog is over $200 per month. Continue average of at least three quality articles per week.business-of-blogging

4. Twelve month goal
   Increase traffic to blog, measured by Alexa rating and Google page rank. Income from blog is over $1000 per month. Continue average of at least three quality articles per week.

Over the course of the next twelve months I will be updating this blog with my progress on meeting these goals.
